Team AMC designers, enabled by the AMC Strategic Communications Practice, are an integral contributor to the development of NASA’s Joint Polar Satellite System Visitor Center (JPSS) modernization, designed to greatly expand the exposure and awareness for the JPSS program and its benefits to citizens in their everyday life.

Challenge: NASA’s Visitor Center at Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) is antiquated and lacks nationwide exposure, thereby limiting the public’s awareness of its benefits and usefulness to the taxpayer.

Solution: The ongoing Team AMC solution is two-fold. First, we are creating a web-enabled user experience that includes an Augmented Reality (AR) interface, enabling users to interact better with the Visitor Center displays. Second, we redirected NASA’s original intention to utilize an on-premise iPad interface to a Bring-Your-Own-Device environment where the user interface is run directly off the visitor’s mobile device. This change paves the way for users NATIONWIDE to enter the AR environment from their computer, tablet, or mobile phone.

Benefit: NASA’s JPSS Visitor Center is quickly becoming a cutting-edge educational environment, utilizing mobile and augmented reality technology to optimize the user experience.  The JPSS Program educational content is now accessible in person at Goddard or, more importantly, available to interested constituencies all across the country, including schools!
